Can we glamp in Winter?
We can supply our glamping tents throughout the year but we now have an elite “adventure” fleet of winter glamping tents to create a magical winter experience that you will never forget. They are heavy duty winter canvas, come with a central wood burning stove, rain porch, extra luxe warm bedding and extras to keep you toasty. For your safety these are not available at every event so you will need to contact us to apply.
How much are they to hire?
Prices vary due to size, number of tents, location, and date. Please contact for a no obligation quote
What type of tents?
We manufacture our standard accommodation tents to our design based on the Sibley tent, invented by the American military officer Henry Hopkins Sibley in 1856.
We’ve made a few adjustments that suit the modern traditional camper but it is essentially the same bit of kit.
Tried and tested over the years by some of the world’s most intrepid explorers this tent design is rugged, practical and well…just super cool!
Our new elite “adventure” fleet for winter camping are top of the range adventure tents made by Tentipi to withstand the most extreme temperatures and weather. They come with integrated porches and internal woodburners to keep you extra toasty in the winter months
What size are the tents?
We have four different size of accommodation tents but our most popular are the 4m diameter tent, which we use for two people and the 5m diameter tent that we use for 2-4 people. The 6m tent is used for special occasions like a wedding night suite or larger parties.
What type of furnishings are in the accommodation tents?
All our accommodation tents come fully carpeted with memory foam mattress, made up with 13.5 tog duvets and bedding. They include extras like rugs, bunting, lanterns and mini tables.
If you would like to hire unfurnished tents then please contact us
What about special event tepees?
We have a special event tepee for that can be used as a reception for an event village, large chill out space as weekend events or an event headquarters. It take approx. 25 people seated or standing. It is 7.5m in diameter and 5.5m in height.
If you require a series of larger event tepees then we recommend Totem Tipis, based in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Where can you pitch the tents?
Our tents are circular so the size given is the diameter.
We need an additional 1 -1.5m on top of this for the guy lines. In exceptional circumstances we can & have put tents up without guy lines.
Space required:
4m tent – 5 – 5.5m 5m tent – 6 – 6.5m 6m tent – 7 – 7.5m
If in doubt we are happy to do a site visit, and we will always do this in the case of larger villages to ensure all health and safety requirements for safe glamping can be catered for.
Tents need to be pitched either on grass or on bare earth, but they can’t be set up indoors, on patio slabs, on concrete or on tarmac.
As our equipment is heavy we prefer to have access directly to the pitching area with a vehicle (normally a Luton or transit van) but can be flexible so contact us for a site visit.
What is the minimum hire period?
We have a 2 night minimum hire period. You are welcome to hire your tent for one night only, however our pricing remains the same and this is because our prices are based on workload, cleaning & laundry etc.
We still have the same amount of work in preparation, travel, erecting and furnishing your tent for one night as we would for two.
We work with yourself and the venue to work out the best pitch and take down times to suit all parties. Larger villages obviously take longer to build and take down, even with more staff so this needs to be accommodated for.
What if it rains or we get adverse weather?
Welcome to the great British summer! We’re used to rain in the UK so all our tents are fully waterproof to protect you from the elements.
Our tents have zipped in ground sheets for greater flexibility. These are what are called ‘bathtub’ style tents. This means the zips that join the ground sheet to the upper canvas are above ground level which keeps the rain outside where it belongs.
Our tents are based on the Sibley tent used by explorers for over a hundred years so can withstand pretty bad wind and weather. Having said this we will not pitch tents if we feel it is unsafe to do so or if adverse weather conditions are imminent. In cases like this we will work with you to find a solution suitable for all parties. It is advisable when choosing a venue for your glamping village to consider flooding risk, wind protection alternatives (ie a hedge row can offer good protection) and site exposure.
Remember! If it does rain, it’s important you keep your tent windows and doors properly closed. If they are left open there will be nothing to stop the rain getting in.
Rain doesn’t have to put a dampener on your party. We also have giant tepee chill out tents for hire that will give you a great communal space undercover so you can enjoy the celebrations without worrying about the weather.
